The US Department of Defense is being held accountable to achieve and sustain full audit readiness. This department-wide endeavour requires military contractors and program managers to track and report all mission critical property, inventory, equipment, operating material and supplies. No small challenge.

This means that all qualifying mission critical assets need to be marked with an IUID label and reported to the IUID Registry. This multi-step process called marking, data capture and registration is at the core of the IUID Policy and the Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness Initiative (FIAR).
