I’ll be speaking tomorrow, at the second annual Auto ID & Sensing Seminar & Expo at Merrimack College, about the state of DoD’s UID implementation and how the armed services plan to leverage the technology. This is an intimidating group, because many “new” applications will be discussed, including leveraging technologies such as RFID, GPS, and nanotechnology.
Even though UID may lack the sizzle of some of these technologies, it is the foundation for the future. We stand at an uncharted time in history when 2D bar code and global asset serialization collide with the ubiquity of the internet, accessibility to mass data storage, and smart phone devices to enable global asset visibility.
If you’re interested to hear how DoD plans to leverage that power in the context of their military operating environment and you’re local to the Boston area, you might want to attend.
